Is TensorTonic Free? Free, Pro and Plus Compared
Yes, the Free plan costs $0 forever. See what Free, Pro ($100/yr) and Plus ($168/yr) include, plus student discounts, cancellation, refunds and trials.
Yes, TensorTonic is free. The Free plan costs $0 forever and gives you unlimited code submissions on 500+ ML coding problems, with theory for each one and interactive visualizations. Pro ($12 a month or $100 a year) adds structured study plans, quizzes and interview mock assessments. Plus ($20 a month or $168 a year) adds modern LLM architecture implementations and ML system design.
Is TensorTonic free?
Yes. The Free plan is $0 forever, with no cap on code submissions and no card needed to sign up. Pro and Plus are optional paid plans for when you want structured learning and interview preparation.
TensorTonic is an ML coding practice platform where you implement algorithms, CUDA kernels and research papers from scratch in the browser. Your code runs against tests straight away, and Toni, an AI assistant built into the editor, can give you a hint when you are stuck.
What can you do on the Free plan?
The Free plan is a full practice platform, not a short trial. With a free account you can:
- Solve 500+ ML coding problems in NumPy and PyTorch, from activation functions and loss functions to attention, with unlimited submissions. Browse the problem library.
- Understand each concept visually. Problems come with the theory behind them, and many with interactive visualizations, so you can see what the math is doing before you code it.
- Write 35 CUDA kernels and run them on real GPU hardware.
- Rebuild 13 research papers one component at a time in the research tracks.
- Learn the math underneath in the ML Math lessons on linear algebra, probability, calculus and optimization.
- Get help from Toni, with 30 messages a day.
- Keep your work. Connect GitHub and every accepted solution is pushed to a private repository automatically.
- Join the community on Discord.
Not included on Free: structured study plans, quizzes, interview mock assessments and ML system design problems.
How much does TensorTonic Pro cost?
Pro costs $12 a month, or $100 billed annually, which works out to about $8.33 a month. Taxes are extra. Pro includes everything in Free, plus:
- 1,110+ problems, more than double the free library.
- Structured study plans, from Pandas, NumPy, PyTorch and SQL foundations through linear algebra, probability, calculus and optimization to ML, deep learning, NLP, RL and computer vision. See all study plans.
- 500+ quiz questions across 12 modules.
- Real-time interview mock assessments for Data Scientist, ML Engineer and Research Engineer roles, with AI Engineer and GPU and Performance assessments on the way. See assessments.
- 300 Toni messages a day and priority support.
What does Plus add to Pro?
Plus costs $20 a month, or $168 billed annually, which works out to $14 a month. Taxes are extra. It includes everything in Pro, plus implementations of modern LLM architectures such as GPT-2 and DeepSeek in PyTorch, ML system design problems, an interactive design canvas and FAANG-style system design scenarios. It is the complete ML interview preparation plan.

Is there a TensorTonic student discount?
Yes. Students can verify their status from the Student discount section of the pricing page: select Apply and fill in a short form to unlock a discount on Pro and Plus. It is a discount on the existing plans, not a separate student plan. For teams or universities, email feedback@tensortonic.com for a custom plan.
Can you cancel, and are there refunds?
You can cancel anytime from your account settings, and you keep paid access until the end of the current billing period. You can also switch plans: upgrades are charged the prorated difference, and downgrades take effect at the end of the billing period.
Pro and Plus subscriptions are non-refundable, which is why the Free plan is there: you can use the full free library for as long as you like before deciding whether to upgrade.
Is there a free trial?
Paid plans do not include a free trial. The Free plan does that job, and it does not expire.
Do you need a card to start?
No. You sign up for the Free plan with email, Google or GitHub. Payment details are only needed if you upgrade, and TensorTonic accepts major credit and debit cards, UPI and international payments.
Want to try TensorTonic before paying?
Start with a few beginner problems from the free library. Each takes a few minutes and shows how the editor, tests and visualizations work together:
- Sigmoid in NumPy: write the sigmoid activation function.
- Softmax: turn scores into probabilities, and handle large inputs without overflow.
- Cosine Similarity: measure how similar two vectors are, the score behind embedding search.
Which TensorTonic plan should you choose?
- Free: best if you want to practise core ML concepts, GPU kernels and research papers at your own pace.
- Pro: best if you want a structured path through the material and interview preparation.
- Plus: best if you also want to implement modern LLM architectures and practise ML system design.
Most people start on Free, solve a handful of problems, and upgrade once they want study plans or mock interviews. Start with the free problem library or compare plans.
